Edgy Celestial Styled Shoot
Back in January I had the pleasure of being invited to supply the floral decor for a styled shoot organised by Lauren Elliott, an amazing wedding & elopement photographer. Along with Lauren, there were a whole host of wonderful suppliers who all worked together under her creative direction to create an edgy yet dreamy styled shoot, designed to inspire the alternative couple & push the traditional boundaries we so often encounter when planning weddings.
The chosen backdrop was the Albert Hall in the heart of Manchester City Centre - a grungy & industrial venue that served as the perfect setting for this shoot, creating an aesthetical juxtaposition against the softer, more celestial styling. The stunning E & W Couture dresses were supplied by The White Yard, the alternative styles of which I spent all day drooling over and left me wishing I could be a bride again!
The super talented Hair & Makeup by Saskia & Louise Freelance MUA created two different polished-to-perfection hair & makeup looks to go along with the outfit changes, which I was completely in awe of (I can only just about apply mascara without poking myself in the eye, and it is a good day if I actually run a brush through my hair!). I would love it if these two could come and spruce me up daily!
The delicately hand-painted leather jackets from Mama Inc Studio along with the beautiful hairpieces & pins from Victoria Louise all perfectly complimented the ethereal dresses, hair & make up. These elements worked harmoniously together and combined successfully to complete the unique “bride less ordinary” style.
I personally had the privilege of designing a bridal bouquet & tablescape blooms - when I recieved the brief I was so excited to create the designs. The botanical ingredients were a mix of both fresh & dried stems, a soft pink palette, with pops of deep burgundy & pink. The bouquet was comprised of Quicksand & Avalanche Roses, seasonal Hellebore’s, frilly pink Ranunculus & dainty Astrantia, with the dried Pampas, Palm Spears & delicate Lunaria creating contrasting textures. I also got the opportunity to add some floral embellishments to the delicious cake by The Sweetest Thing Cakery, and to flower-up the uber-cool neon sign provided by Antha Event Hire, for which I created a garland of mixed fresh foliage & added an abundance of Pampas & beautiful dried Hydrangeas.
The whole day was fantastic from start to finish, and I was thrilled when I received the finished images! Feast your eyes on a selection of them below for some serious alternative, industrial wedding inspo - and if you want to read more about the concept, head over to the feature on Festival Brides, where Lauren talks in more depth about the inspiration & creative direction of the styled shoot.
I have mentioned above only a handful of the talented suppliers who were involved in putting together this shoot. For a full list of all suppliers please scroll to the bottom of the post where are all links are included.
